Feb 4, 2026 marked another important moment in the #Repeal162 journey.

The decriminalization appeal was before the Court of Appeal today for its first substantive hearing since the High Court judgment in 2019. While the Court granted an adjournment and scheduled the matter for full hearing in May 2026, the constitutional questions at the heart of this case remain very much alive.

This is about dignity, safety, and equality, and whether the Constitution protects all Kenyans. We remain committed to the process, grounded in hope, and firm in our belief that justice, even when delayed, is worth pursuing.

To the friends, family, allies, partners and the community we serve, thank you. 2025 demanded courage, asked us to withstand uncertainty, resist hostility, care for one another, and continue showing up even as the ground shifted beneath us, and together we did; every programme delivered, every case handled, every training, partnership, protest, strategic meeting, and community gathering was possible because this movement holds each other with intention. You trusted us through transition, built with us through pressure, marched with us through fear, and imagined with us through uncertainty; 2025 asked us to be brave, and we were, and as we look ahead, 2026 will ask us to be strategic, and we are ready stepping forward with clarity, unity, and conviction to build a Kenya where every queer person can live, love, heal, organise, and thrive in dignity.

As we close our office for the holidays, please note that we will be back on January 14th, 2026; during this period we will not have regular access to email, but we look forward to responding to your message promptly upon our return. In November 2025, @inend.ke @galck_ke and. @nglhrckenya unveiled a groundbreaking new body of research, an ambitious continuation of the 2022 report that first mapped the everyday realities, risks, resilience and shifting social attitudes surrounding LGBTQ+ lives in Kenya.

This new edition widens the lens: documenting how stigma is reproduced in homes, schools, digital spaces, faith spaces, workplaces and community spaces, while also highlighting the subtle but powerful emergence of allyship, awareness and collective resistance. Through lived experiences, behavioural insights and community-grounded data, the report captures a Kenya that is changing unevenly, imperfectly, but undeniably as more people confront harmful narratives and imagine a more inclusive society.

These insights land at a pivotal moment as the nation moves closer to the 2027 elections a period when public discourse sharpens, political rhetoric intensifies, and LGBTQ+ lives risk being weaponised for gain. This research grounds the fight against misinformation in evidence, offering advocates, policymakers and communities the tools to push back, organise and protect hard-won freedoms.

It is a call to action: to safeguard rights, strengthen solidarity, and ensure LGBTQ+ Kenyans can show up, participate and shape the future of their country with confidence and safety.
